Aravon is an Independent Preparatory School, Co-Educational and Inter-Denominational. It is run as a Scientific, Charitable and Educational Trust, administered by a Board of Governors and under the day-to-day management of its Principal, Mr. Kevin Allwright.

The school is a member of the Association of Independent Junior Schools (AIJS) and the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS), and offers Day facilities to boys and girls from 4 to 12 years of age, and Boarding or Weekly Boarding from 8 to 12 years.

While Aravon is not bound by the Irish National School curriculum, it conforms to Department of Education requirements for entry to secondary schools in Ireland.
