The Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony was held at the K Club in County Kildare on the 21st of September 2006. As well as introducing the teams and a welcoming speech by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, the ceremony featured spectacular entertainment from a collaboration of Els Comediants from Barcelona, Coiscéim Dance Theatre from Dublin and Mac Teo from Galway. Specially commissioned music was performed by Donal Lunny and band with orchestra and choir. |
