Recorded in Studio 4 at RTE, Dublin. It featured the RTE Symphony Orchestra with guest artists. Musical Director and Presenter was Bill Whelan. The Orchestra area was built to accommodate over 60 musicians and featured a camera track across the back shooting towards the M.D. position. A separate performance area was situated camera right of the orchestra to accommodate guest performers. This could be shot as a separate set or related to the orchestra. A series of steel columns clad in expanded metal and internally lit by architectural tubes formed the main scenic elements of the set. Behind these were stretched printed canvas shapes. Floating columns with bracket lights were used as foreground pieces. The floor was painted black and glazed, reflecting the highlights of the set. |
